Siyapatha Finance PLC, a fully-owned subsidiary of Sampath Bank PLC, takes pride in announcing the commencement of a nationwide tree planting project as a key component of its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
This significant endeavor is being carried out in collaboration with the Finance Houses Association of Sri Lanka’s (FHA) “500,000 Tree Planting Project”. The primary ceremony organized by FHA Sir Lanka, held at Independence Square, Colombo 07, was honored by the presence of Mr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, along with Mr. Ananda Seneviratne, the Chairman of the Finance Houses Association of Sri Lanka and Mr. Romani De Silva, Chairman of the FHA Sustainability Sub Committee, including other esteemed individuals. This event coincides with the World Environmental day symbolizing the immense importance of the tree planting project, emphasizing the shared dedication towards sustainable development. The ceremony was successful with the planting of over 261,000 trees, recording the highest number of trees planted in a single day across Sri Lanka.
In line with the above, Siyapatha Finance PLC contributed its initiative named ‘Siyapathen Mihikathata’ which was simultaneously launched on June 5th, 2023, coinciding with Siyapatha Finance’s 18th anniversary. Demonstrating its unwavering dedication, Siyapatha actively engaged in this endeavor by planting more than 10,000 trees across various locations in Sri Lanka through the collective effort of the Company and the invaluable support of various stakeholders, such as universities, schools, highways, road networks, and places of worship, leveraging the extensive branch network spanning the island.
“Siyapathen Mihikathata” underscores the steadfast commitment to environmental conservation and the organization’s dedication to fostering a greener future. The Managing Director of Siyapatha Finance PLC, Mr. Ananda Seneviratne, promoted this initiative from its inception, encouraging the act of planting trees as it not only contributes to purifying the air we breathe but also plays a crucial role in the overall well-being of our planet. By absorbing carbon dioxide, trees serve as a vital agent in mitigating climate change, maintaining ecological balance, and safeguarding biodiversity. Through this initiative, Siyapatha Finance aims to address the urgent need of reducing the carbon footprint while promoting sustainable financing practices in Sri Lanka.

As the first project of “Husma Podak” National Hospital CSR series, we donated an ICU Bed and Wall Oxygen Regulators to the District General Hospital of Kegalle recently with the participation of the Managing Director of Siyapatha Finance Mr. Ananda Seneviratne, Director of the Kegalle District General Hospital Dr. Mihiri Priyangani and members from the Kegalle branch and hospital. Siyapatha Finance PLC takes the opportunity to recognize and value the exceptional commitment Sri Lanka Police offers to safeguard all communities, especially during these challenging times. As an appreciation for these efforts, Siyapatha Finance offered aid through the provision of canopy tents to roadside police posts in Sainthamaruthu. Siyapatha Finance endorses that a sound education is the foundation for a better future. St. Rogus Primary School in Ambakandawila, Chilaw offers education to approximately 700 students and Siyapatha Finance took a proud initiative in supporting the school with infrastructural developments to further enhance the quality of education. Striving Together towards uplifting humanity during challenging times! Siyapatha Finance Galle branch took a great initiative in organizing an alms-giving and donation of medical equipment to the Cancer Society of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital to celebrate their 4th Anniversary.
As we prioritize the education of our future generation, we took the initiative of donating computers and other IT equipment to the Newbridge Boys’ Home in Wevaldeniya. Our donations facilitate online learning through virtual platforms, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Siyapatha Finance has always believed in the importance of empowering youth and developing their education for a better tomorrow. As a part of our ongoing CSR programs, we took the initiative of donating computers to Thissamaharama Maha Vidyala, allowing over 1500 students from grades 1 – 13 to learn and develop IT literacy skills to improve their career opportunities in the future.
Education is the key to a better future. Siyaptha Finance values the importance of quality education and sets objectives to support the development of education in the country. We recently took the initiative to uplift the technological background of Erabadda Vidyalaya located in Keppetipola by donating computers. We believe this intervention will allow the 62 students from grades 6 to 11, and 20 teachers in the school to support the students in developing their IT skills.
